Glass-fibre reinforced nylon
PA6-GF

PA6-GF: Durable heat-resistant nylon with stiffness, colour and industrial practicality.

PA6-GF uses chopped glass fibre to control shrinkage and raise stiffness while preserving a useful balance of toughness and cost. It suits industrial tooling, automotive components and production aids where carbon-black aesthetics are not required.

The engineer’s read.

Material family names are not specifications. This page anchors the discussion to a named commercial grade and published printed-specimen data, then translates that data into practical selection and design guidance.

What it brings

PA6-GF uses chopped glass fibre to control shrinkage and raise stiffness while preserving a useful balance of toughness and cost. It suits industrial tooling, automotive components and production aids where carbon-black aesthetics are not required.

Selection verdict

Choose PA6-GF for strong, durable and potentially colour-coded nylon parts exposed to heat and repeated handling.

Printed properties.

Orientation, conditioning and geometry can move finished-part performance materially. Use these figures to compare candidate materials—not as guaranteed minimums.

XY values normally represent flat-printed specimens. Z-direction strength can be substantially lower. Final production settings should be qualified on representative geometry.

Selection logic.

A useful material choice starts with load case, temperature, environment, duty cycle and failure consequence—not the strongest number on a datasheet.

Advantages

  • High heat resistance and strong bearing capability
  • Better dimensional stability than unfilled PA6
  • Useful toughness after conditioning
  • Glass-filled grades can offer more colour choice

Watch-outs

  • Moisture changes dimensions and stiffness
  • Glass fibre is abrasive and can give a coarser edge finish
  • Less stiff than leading PA6-CF and PPA-CF grades
